OFC/NFOEC Preview

OFC/NFOEC 2007 promises to be an exciting OFC for Polatis, with product and market sector launches. The Polatis booth will feature many of our previously established benchmark performance demonstrations along with some new, industry cutting edge demonstrations and launches.

Sections of the Polatis booth will be aimed at users in the Network Monitoring & Test, Product and Network Verification, and Network Switching and Reconfiguration segments. As at all exhibitions Polatis attends there will be many live, innovative demonstrations that the attendees in Anaheim will able to interact with. The live product demonstrations will take place in the Polatis booth #3213, during exhibition hours March 27th through March 29th.

Last year OFC/NFOEC 2006 saw the first tradeshow of the combined business Polatis Incorporated following the merger of Polatis Ltd with Continuum Photonics. Since the merger, we saw Polatis strengthen its position in the optical systems industry, emerging as a world leader in optical switching and Polatis continues to grow with the same momentum. Polatis Inc. has continued to expand it’s product lines, distribution outlets, and manufacturing locations.

A preview of the various sections that will be shown in the Polatis booth at OFC/NFOEC 2007 is detailed below.

Fiber Access: FTTH, FTTx & FTTN

Polatis’ products are well suited for many applications, which is why Polatis are launching to a new market sector; Fiber Access: FTTH, FTTx & FTTN. This section of the booth will feature a live FTTH demonstration highlighting Polatis product effectiveness in provisioning, monitoring and test of fiber to the home architectures. Coupled with JDSU’s ONMS optical network monitoring system the Polatis switch provides a complete connectivity solution for FTTH access architectures. The Fiber Access section will soon feature a product launch.

Network Monitoring & Test

Polatis will demonstrate it’s already network-proven High Port count Asymmetric (HPA) product designed for network monitoring, test, and provisioning in RFTS and PON/FTTx test & monitoring applications. The HPA is a highly flexible system, capable of port arrangements from 4x196 to 16x64 in a single 6U chassis, and is expandable to 8x900 in a single rack – while maintaining less than 2.0 dB loss.

Product and Network Verification

As a pioneer in automated optical instrumentation and testing, Polatis continues its relationship with JSDU as its worldwide distributor of automated switching product for the test and measurement industry. The Polatis VST line of optical switches allow manufacturers of both passive and active optical components to increase their productivity and extend the utilization of high-value optical test equipment through equipment sharing on the production line. Network Switching and Reconfiguration

Polatis will highlight the application of its products in a demonstration of physical layer protection and restoration of network connectivity in the event of equipment or path failure. The demonstration will visually illustrate a 4 node system, with the capability of automatically detecting loss of signal, providing rapid fail-over switching to pre-provisioned paths as part of a shared protection strategy. The demonstration highlights the fast, dark-fiber switch capabilities of the Polatis OST platform.

To maintain our high standards of live demonstrations at exhibition conferences, Polatis has planned a total of 12 live demonstrations to showcase the unique features and ultra-low loss performance.
