Continuum Wins Frost & Sullivan Award

Continuum Photonics has been selected as the recipient of the Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Differentiation Innovation. The award represents leadership in the successful adoption of new technology to best address emerging markets, and was awarded to recognize the DirectLight series of switches. This award was presented in conjunction with Frost & Sullivan’s World MEMS Based Optical Components Markets research.

The Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Differentiation Innovation is presented to the company that has best demonstrated the ability to develop and/or advance products with more innovative capabilities than competing vendors and products. Such innovation is expected to significantly contribute to the industry in terms of product performance and degree/rate of technical change. Participants are ranked with respect to numerous criteria, and Continuum was ranked number one in the industry.

“Continuum’s piezo-MEMS beam-steering technology is the first of its kind, and has significant advantages over traditional MEMS mirrors,“ said Frost & Sullivan Analyst, Projjal Kumar Roy. “It enables a powerful set of features in addition to the standard switching, including its integrated VOA and power meter functions. We believe this places Continuum in the unique position to address the broadest number of market segments in communications, including test & measurement, optical networking, and fiber distribution.”

Jeffrey Farmer, Continuum’s CEO, comments on the Frost & Sullivan award. “Recognition by Frost & Sullivan for our DirectLight series of products is a further validation of the strong market demand we are seeing from our customers every day. The uniquely integrated functionality of an instrument-quality switch, power meter, and VOA provides not only a distinct operational advantage for customers, but substantial reductions in first installed and total lifecycle costs. We are seeing broad applications within our customer base at network equipment manufacturers, service providers, and others.”
